Japan will join hands with member states to respond to China’s application to join the CPTPP

According to Japanese media news, regarding China’s formal application to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP), relevant Japanese ministers have spoken on the 17th and said they will cooperate with other member states to respond. In a press conference after the cabinet meeting, the head of economic regeneration and economic regeneration who served as the chairman of the “TPP Committee” of the ministerial meeting, Yasushi Nishimura said, “It is necessary to pay attention to whether it is ready to meet extremely high levels of regulations.”

China officially launched the work aimed at joining the TPP on the 17th.

Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi pointed out at a press conference after the cabinet meeting that it is necessary to discuss with other participating countries “and respond based on a strategic point of view.”

The former Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru, a member of CPTPP, Bascos, told Kyodo News on the 16th that China is a major trading partner of many CPTPP member states and that formal membership “may be difficult, but it is also possible.”
