To mark the centennial of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Association of Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation (ASLCSCC) held a well-attended webinar on July 31st which attracted friendly personages and non-governmental organizations from South Asian countries. Pakistan as one of the major participants, Farwa Zafar, General Secretary of All Pakistan-China Friendship Association (APCFA) delivered a speech at the event.
On this occasion, all the panelists expressed their sincere congratulations to CPC. In addition, participants traced back the leaders of CPC from Mao Zedong to Xi Jinping. They all agreed that CPC has been steering the country in realizing China’s national rejuvenation and its past efforts are already bearing fruit.
In Farwa’s speech, she congratulated President Xi Jinping and the peoples of China, among whom 95 million are Party members, on this landmark occasion. She said: “On July 1st, the Communist Party of China -the world’s largest ruling party – completed a century since its founding in 1921. We commend president Xi for his foresight and sagacity of CPC’s historical mission in realizing China’s complete reunification and irreversible national rejuvenation.”
“Pakistan also lauds the leadership of CPC, under which China has achieved its first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. The achievements of CPC are undeniable, and are there for all to see. Our Prime Minister Imran Khan has lauded CPC’s efforts for the well-being of the Chinese people, particularly in the realm of poverty alleviation and socio-economic development. Pakistan has drawn inspiration from China, which has lifted 800 million people out of poverty in just four decades,” Farwa added.
She said: “2021 also marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties. With CPC’s firm position to develop friendly relations with Pakistan, friendship between Pakistan and China would continue flourishing to reach unprecedented heights.”
Indranande Abeysekera, President of ASLCSCC, praised the achievements of CPC in his welcome remarks. He said: “pursuing reform and opening up, was a crucial move in making China what it is today. CPC and the Chinese people, have shown the world that China’s national rejuvenation has become a historical inevitability through their tenacious struggle.”
Dew Gunasekera, senior leader of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, also highlighted the glorious journey of CPC in the past century and commended its leadership over the years to lead China to become a global leader on the world stage.
Anoop Bhattarai, President of the Organisation of South Asian Regional Friendship and Cooperation with China (OSARFCC), said that since his student days he has been living in China and witnessed how China achieved its first centenary goal under CPC’s leadership with “people centric” policies.
In addition, Muhammad Rasheed, President of China-Maldives Cultural Association (CMCA), talked about how friendship organizations can play a role in strengthening people to people bonds of China-South Asian countries.
Including officials from the China People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (BPAFFC), Bangladesh China Cultural Economic and Mass Communication Center (BCCEMCC), India-China Friendship Associations (ICFA) and friends from China and South Asian countries, close to one hundred people attended the webinar.
