Jiangsu held stock enhancement activity in Changzhou on the National Fish Releasing Day

On June 6, the National Fish Releasing Day, Jiangsu launched its stock enhancement activity in Gehu Lake in Changzhou. Vice Governor Pan Xianzhang announced the opening of the ceremony.

In line with Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Protection and the idea that “green is gold”, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has designated June 6 as the National Fish Releasing Day in 2015 with an aim to increase aquatic abundances. Provinces across China all carried out releasing activities. The theme for this year was “Better Conservation of Aquatic Life for A Beautiful China”. In Jiangsu, one of the sub-venues of this year’s event, 2 million fishes of different kinds, including silver carp and bighead carp, were released into Gehu Lake. Following the event on June 6, there will be 17 more releasing activities carried out across Jiangsu, in which 420 million juveniles will be released into the wild, including freshwater fishes like silver carp and bighead carp, and economic species such as Chinese prawn, large yellow croaker, and Cynoglossus semilaevis.
