The 2nd China-CEEC Expo and International Consumer Goods Expo was opened on June 8th in Ningbo. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to this expo.
On the afternoon of June 8th, the China-CEEC Cooperation Forum was held. Hu Chunhua, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, read Xi’s congratulatory letter and made a speech.
Hu Chunhua pointed out that President Xi Jinping sent a special congratulatory letter to further clarify the direction and goals of deepening China-CEEC cooperation in the new situation, which will definitely have an important impact on the consensus of all parties and the promotion of higher-level mutually beneficial cooperation. With the joint efforts of all parties, in recent years, China-CEEC economic and trade cooperation has continuously achieved new results. Bilateral trade exceeded US$100 billion for the first time in 2020, two-way investment has steadily expanded, and the status of Central and Eastern European countries in Asia-Europe connectivity has been continuously improved. Regional cooperation between China and Central and Eastern Europe is in the ascendant, showing a strong momentum of development.
Hu Chunhua emphasized that the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries has entered a new stage of upgrading, and is ushering in a brighter prospect. China is willing to work with Central and Eastern European countries to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Central and Eastern European countries, jointly respond to the challenges of the epidemic, jointly build the “Belt and Road” with high quality, promote the optimization and upgrading of trade cooperation, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in the investment field, and promote new results in China-Central and Eastern Europe cooperation.
On the morning of the same day, Hu Chunhua also attended the opening ceremony of the sixth meeting of the China-CEEC Joint Chamber of Commerce. He said that since the establishment of the China-CEEC Joint Chamber of Commerce, it has been actively building bridges for business cooperation and its influence has continued to increase. It is hoped that the member units of the Chamber of Commerce will further play the role of bridges and provide better services for deepening mutual understanding between enterprises and promoting the implementation of projects.
Provincial Party Secretary Yuan Jiajun and Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Bingnan delivered speeches. Governor of Hainan Province, Feng Fei, Deputy Secretary-General Gao Yu of the State Council, Gao Yan, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and Wang Lingjun, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Customs attended. Yuan Jiajun extended welcome to the Chinese and foreign guests attending the Expo. He said that President Xi Jinping specially sent a congratulatory letter to the Expo, fully expressing China’s sincere desire and firm determination to deepen economic and trade exchanges and strengthen cooperation in various fields with Central and Eastern European countries, and provide an important follow-up for the success of this Expo. We must earnestly study and implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’’s important instructions, and strive to make the Expo a “golden name card” for cooperation between China and Central and Eastern Europe in accordance with the requirements of Vice Premier Hu Chunhua’s speech. We will take this expo as an opportunity to take advantage of the “Belt and Road” initiative to build a central hub for economic and trade cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries, an important bridge for Central and Eastern European countries to enter the Chinese market, and an important window for multi-level exchanges between China and Central and Eastern European countries, to promote all-round, high-quality, multi-level exchanges and cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries to a new level.
Before attending the China-CEEC Cooperation Forum, Hu Chunhua and his party visited part of the exhibition halls of the 2nd China-CEEC Expo and International Consumer Goods Expo.
Yuan Jiajun and Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, attended the sixth meeting of the China-CEEC Joint Chamber of Commerce, hosted by Gao Yan, and Zheng Shanjie delivered a speech. The heads of relevant government departments or chambers of commerce in Poland, Hungary, Bosnia, and Herzegovina gave a video speech, and Hu Xiaolian, Chairman of the Chinese Council of the United Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of China, gave a speech.
Zheng Shajie pointed out that in the past, the results of cooperation between Zhejiang and Central and Eastern European countries have been gratifying. In the future, Zhejiang hopes to share opportunities and achieve win-win development with Central and Eastern European countries. Zhejiang is actively promoting high-quality development, building a demonstration zone for common prosperity, and creating an “important window”, which brings more opportunities to the majority of enterprises. We will earnestly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speech, uphold the principle of “open cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win results”, strengthen cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries in the fields of advanced manufacturing, port logistics, business tourism, technological innovation, green and low-carbon, and promote bilateral economic and trade exchanges to a new level. It is hoped that the United Chamber of Commerce will encourage more enterprises to invest and start businesses in Zhejiang and achieve fruitful results.
With the theme of “Building New Patterns and Sharing New Opportunities”, this year’s expo focused on the mutual promotion of internal and external circulation, and the integration of online and offline development. An exhibition covering a total area of 200,000 square meters was set up, including the three major sections of the Central and Eastern European Exhibition, the International Consumer Goods Exhibition, and Imports, to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries in trade, investment, and humanities.
Leaders of relevant state departments, provincial and Ningbo municipal leaders, Peng Jiaxue, Chen Yijun, and Qiu Dongyao, diplomatic envoys in China, heads of relevant provincial departments, and domestic and foreign merchants attended the opening ceremony.
