“Macao Week in Jiangsu”, organized by the Department of Economy and Finance of Macao SAR Government and coordinated by the Offices of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs of both Jiangsu Provincial Government and Nanjing Municipal Government, commenced on May 14 in the Confucius Temple area of Nanjing. Li Weinong, Director General of the Department of Economy and Finance of Macao and Hui Jianlin, Vice Governor of Jiangsu addressed the opening ceremony.
Rich programs will be launched during the Macao Week to present Macao as a healthy and safe tourist resort that appeals to people with its unique cultural diversity. As scheduled, a promotional conference of Jiangsu-Macao tourism and exhibition is staged in Nanjing on May 13; while several major roadshows with multiple theme exhibition areas including Tourism Area, Intangible Cultural Heritage Area, Sports Area and Economic and Trade Area are held at the Pedestrian Street of the Confucius Temple from May 14 to 17. Well-designed performances and shows including dragon and lion dancing, Portuguese folk dances, Macao local songs and dances, street dance by MAK MAK–mascot of Macao Tourism, as well as Macao intangible cultural heritage “Choy Li Fut Hand Forms” are ready for the audience.
During the event, discount packages worthy over RMB 900 million offered by tour agencies and flight companies in Macao will be doted out on the spot or via their online portals. In addition, Tourism Bureau of Macao SAR Government will host a promotional event for Macao delicacies at Jinling Hotel from May 13 to 26, in a bid to advertise for Macao as a “creative city of gastronomy” with its proud brand of Portuguese dishes with Macao style.
