Hubei’s total import and export volume hit 159.24 billion yuan in the first four months of 2021, a 47.5-percent increase from the same period in 2019, data from the Wuhan Customs showed.
Of the total, exports and imports soared to 98.21 billion yuan and 61.03 billion yuan, respectively, ranking the third and ninth nationwide with growth rates seeing 59.4 and 17.6 percentage points higher than the national level in the same period.
The province’s private businesses provided the most powerful support, contributing 91.1 billion yuan to import and export volume, which accounted for 71.5 percent of the province’s total.
The import and export growth of Xiangyang took a lead in the province with a year-on-year increase of more than two folds, followed by Xianning, Shiyan, and Huanggang with a double growth.
The province maintained a good performance in imports and exports with the European Union, the United States, and ASEAN, and its trade with participating countries along the Belt and Road also saw a robust momentum in the four months.
